Thanks, Tomo! Thanks, Tomo!

Fellow photoblogger Tomo, who runs Photomo agreed to send me prints of two of her wonderfully dreamy Sakura shots from Tokyo this year. They are now on our kitchen wall.

Many thanks, Tomo!

Bikers in Pune, India Bikers in Pune, India

I spent a couple of days in Pune, India for work. This was shot out the window of the car while moving from one office to another.

There’s something about trying to make the most of images with low technical quality. In this one I wanted the bike to stand out, so I sharpened the whole image in a separate layer, and used a layer mask to only apply the sharpening on the bike. This accentuates the sharpening of the bike, or that’s at least what I was going for.

Six Fingers Six Fingers

The doors to the restaurant cars on the InterCity trains in Finland have a hand with six fingers. I wonder what the background story of that is. I also wonder if that’s some kind of pan-European phenomenon, or just Finland. In any case, it’s nice to see humor coming out of a government organization (it’s the “state railways”).

Vigeland Obelisk Vigeland Obelisk

I got my hands on my grandparents’ archives of negatives, which mostly consists of my grandmother’s snapshots. There is material ranging from 1950 to 1993, and of course I’m focusing on the old stuff first. In addition to the home landscapes of my grandparents, there is a lot of travel photos. I’m so happy that medium format cameras were more common back then, as some of the photos is really high quality.

This is a creepy sculpture in the Vigeland Park, Oslo, Norway. I figured out where the picture was taken by doing a Google Image Search on “Obelisk Humans”… but I could of course have asked my father.

I don’t know who took this picture.

My friend Petr has helped me with my interrupted project of photographing Štramberk in various seasons. The first photo was winter, and here we have spring. Many, many thanks to Petr! I’m looking forward to the summer and autumn shots! ;-)

This is from the Sedlec Ossuary in Kutná Hora, Czech Republic, and it’s not the first time plague victims are presented on Quaint.
